The News Tribune, September 16, 2015: "Nye, a solid member of the council, set up the U.S. Open task force. He seems better equipped to help the city attract more business. Voters should give him a second term."
Four years ago I ran for office because I thought a group of strong leaders with conviction, energy, and ideas would help University Place complete the Town Center and prepare for the US Open. The most important lessons I learned as a commander in Special Forces were to do more with less, and to absolutely know the purpose of the mission. I’ve enjoyed working with elected leaders and the city manager’s highly professional staff to understand and develop lasting strategies. We can make spending decisions that are consistent with our city’s mission and the appropriate scope of local government. I want to hold myself and city leaders accountable for promoting clear concise measurable legislative policies for sustainable public safety, infrastructure, and regulation. This is my problem solving approach.
The Town Center and US Open have given us a glimpse of exciting possibilities and opened up new opportunities. Above all, my priority is to keep our city a great place to live, work, and play. Since 1997 my wife Teresa and I have chosen to raise our family and do business here because we believe in U.P. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve.
